False internet charges on mobile phone?

My boyfriend put some credit on his phone (o2), and then went on their website to get his treat ( a freebie you get when you top up your phone). The treat he received was free internet. He has never been on the internet from his mobile, but as it was free decided to check the football results.

As it's so hard to read the results on a mobile, he just logged off it. The next thing that happend was that all his credit went. He then kept topping up his phone and the credit just kept going. In total he lost 拢90.

He spoke to O2 who said that he had been on some 'adult' website, which he hadn't (we were watching corrie). We have no way of proving otherwise. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas how to claim the money back as 02 wont refund.

I know he was stupid keep putting credit on the phone, but I am pregnant so he needs to be in touch with me at all times.

Request an itemized bill from O2 if they refuse. request to View all information contained about you on their computer as in titled by the data protection act.

Check he has not accidental signed up to a subscription of any sort they normally drain 拢5 a week in credit.

Once you have a break down of the costs phone O2 back disputing any charges you think are incorrect.

If they refuse to refund them open a case with the small claims court I doubt you'll even end up in court the risk of court fees O2 may incur will be far greater than 拢90 so they'll want to settle. See the Citizen advice bureau before you do this though.
