Is it true that you will be charged for false alarms?

If your security / burglar alarm goes off by mistake and you turn it off in good time (therefore no emergency services respond) will you be charged a fee for a false alarm?

I've heard claims that some companies do. Is that true?Is it true that you will be charged for false alarms?
That would depend on the company you have and the contract you have with them.

Some agencies will start charging people and businesses fees if they have a large number of false alarms that are responded to. This also varies from agency to agency. Is it true that you will be charged for false alarms?
laws vary on this from community to community. In the city where I worked, a third false alarm in 30 days got you a $50 fine. This only applied to businesses that had burglar/intrusion/robbery alarms. Home owners who installed alarms were not allowed to use a dialer (a device that rings up the police and plays a recorded message). You could only use a local sounding alarm, which meant your neighbors called in the alarm. Three false alarms got you a disturbing the peace ticket and repeated offenses got you a court order to disconnect the alarm.
In my county - if a deputy goes on scene with the alarm ringing -

there is the option to ticket the alarm after the third false alarm in history

if the alarm company calls us - gives us the clear code to cancel

and we cancel before the deputy arrives lights and siren blazing

- then they are free and clear

hope this helped

all the best
You can be charged with it yes. But if the officer charges you in that situation the state attorney will drop the case.
