So the charges are dropped for murder. But can you still be charged with escaping? Since escape is considered a crime, the person could be charged.

yes, you will still be charged with escaping prison,
innocent or guilt regarding the original sentence doesn't count but it will be reflected in the sentence if you were innocent and you are likely to get a conditional discharge.

Yes because at the time you were a convicted murderer and escaped . What happens later did not change that. Odds are the charges would be dropped.

Yes. Escape is a separate crime for which you WILL be charged.
Though it's illegal, I doubt you'll be arrested for being in a jail you shouldn't have been in to begin with.
