How do I file charges against someone who has made false criminal allegations against me&What is the penalty?

It really depends on your story. If the person falsified a police report which resulted in your being arrested, etc. and you can prove it, contact the police dept and file a report. They will investigate it. It may or may not go anywhere. It's very hard to prove that someone flat out lied to create criminal charges, especially if it's only a he-said, she-said. Be advised also, if it has already been proven that they created a lie for charges against you, the police may have already filed that report themselves. You may also have a civil law suit for malicious prosecution, where the proof is a lot less than in a criminal court. If they are found guilty in criminal court, then it could be fines and probation, depending on what happened as a result of the lie.

By the way, since someone else mentioned it; SLANDER is not a criminal charge, slander is a civil issue. How do I file charges against someone who has made false criminal allegations against me%26amp;What is the penalty?
